New Orleans and Mississippi River Road Plantations

Join us April 5-8, 2010, as we visit New Orleans and take a side trip up the Mississippi River Road.

Trip Details:

April 5: Upon arrival in New Orleans, we will travel along the “River Road,” stopping at plantations along the way. We will have lunch at the Houmas House and then continue on to Nottoway Plantation for the evening.

April 6: After breakfast we will return to New Orleans, stopping to visit more plantations. Once in New Orleans we will check in to the Hotel Monteleone and enjoy dinner in the French Quarter with optional walking tours guided by Dr. Larry Ray.

April 7: Breakfast will be at the Hotel Monteleone followed by morning walking tours of the French Quarter. After lunch there will be optional tours of Magazine Street and dinner again in the French Quarter.

April 8: Enjoy the morning free to walk around or finish any tours of the city. Charter buses will provide transportation back to the New Orleans airport for our travel home.

Cost per person (double occupancy rooms): $1,175.

($500 deposit due in January 2010)

Trip cost includes: transportation from Jackson to and from Nashville Airport, Southwest flights to and from New Orleans, transportation upon arrival to New Orleans, double occupancy, three night’s lodging, all entrance fees to plantations, two dinners, and all breakfasts

We had a wonderful time on our trip to the Mississippi Delta in August, 2008. Highlights of our trip included a night at Clarksdale’s Shack Up Inn, dinner at Morgan Freeman’s Madidi restaurant, jazz at Ground Zero Blues Club, visits to Peter’s Pottery in Mound Bayou and McCartys Pottery Gallery in Merigold, a second night at the Alluvian, and dinner at the Viking Cooking School with live jazz and a spectacular meal.
