Harbert Alexander Sr.Harbert graduated from Jackson High School in 1957. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Virginia Military Institute in 1961 and a graduate degree from Rutgers University. He served as an artillery officer in Schweinfurt, West Germany, retiring from the army as a captain. He was associated with Jackson National Bank for twenty-four years where he served as president of the bank and vice chairman of the holding company. He was appointed president and CEO of Union Planters Bank of Jackson in 1988. In 1988 Harbert was promoted to the position of regional president for all of the West Tennessee and Arkansas Union Planters Banks. From 2007-2011 Mr. Alexander was CEO of The Bank of Jackson. He served as Madison County historian, on the board of Lambuth University, and was a member of the Jackson Utility board. He was named Jackson Exchange Club's "man of the year" in 1991. Harbert is President of the Carnegie Center. He is the author of four books. He is married to Nora Noe and has three children and three grandchildren. |
Carter EdwardsCarter has been an active member on the Board since 1987. After graduating from Ole Miss he became a business owner and currently owns the Cotton Gin in Maury City. He is a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Alamo and he is active in the National Cotton Council and the Southern Cotton Ginners Association. He has 3 children and one grandchild. |
Bill HaynesBill Haynes, a life-long Jackson resident, is married to Deloria; they have two sons and five grandchildren. Bill owned and operated Haynes Distributing Company, a multi-brand beer distributorship servicing Jackson and ten surrounding counties. Bill was an organizer and the founding Chairman of the Board of The Bank of Jackson. Previous bank affiliations include board positions with Bank of Trenton & Trust, Union Planters Bank, First Federal Savings & Loan, and Fidelity Federal Savings & Loan. |
Carl KirklandA native of Union City, Carl Kirkland has been a leader throughout his life. A graduate of University of Memphis, he co-founded a company that made the Kirkland name famous. With small beginnings in 1968, Carl turned Kirkland's into a nationally recognized company. He served as President and CEO of Kirkland's from 1968 to 2001. He served on the board of directors of Hibbetts Sporting Goods, The Bank of Jackson, Chairman of the Board for the University School Board and the Health & Healing Board of Directors. His community leadership includes contributing and serving on the boards for Boy Scouts, Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Jackson Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Arts Council, Jackson Symphony, and the West TN Cerebral Palsy Association. He and Alice attend First United Methodist Church and have three children and five grandchildren. |
Vicki LakeVictoria Schneider Lake is a third generation Jacksonian. Her parents were the late Anne and Victor Schneider, who practiced law for many years in Jackson in the law firm of Schneider, Schneider, & Harris. She attended the public school system, graduating from Jackson Central Merry High School. Vicki completed her bachelors of arts and masters of science degrees at The University of Alabama, and did her doctoral work at Michigan State University. She has been married to Jeff Lake for 16 years, and they have five rescued dogs including three basset hounds. She is the Director of Market Research and Community Development at West Tennessee Healthcare. In this capacity she is responsible for grant and proposal writing for all West Tennessee Healthcare affiliates, designated community public and not-for-profit agencies. Through her work, approximately $41 million in grant funds have been received by rural West Tennessee agencies. She is also responsible for writing certificates of need, facility licensing, award applications, and other proposals; and conducting market, demographic, socioeconomic research. She plays an active role in many community organizations including past board president of Youth Town of Tennessee, The STAR Center, the Jackson Arts Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Madison County, Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, the Jackson Family YMCA Regional Board, and The Bank of Jackson. Vicki is currently the Chair of the Board of the WestTenn Bancorp Holding Company. She is Past President of the Jackson Rotary Club and past District 6760 Assistant District Governor. Vicki is past Chair of the Jackson State Community College Foundation, and the Jackson/Madison County Library Foundation. She serves on the Union University Board of Regents and on boards of the Jackson Arts Council, the West Tennessee Housing Resource Network, and is a graduate of WestStar Leadership Program. She is active in The University of Alabama West Tennessee Alumni and Friends Chapter. In 2007, City of Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist asked Vicki to serve as Chair of the Safe Neighborhoods Task Force that was charged with reviewing data and making recommendations to the Jackson City Council on housing, property codes and ordinances as well as crime and law enforcement on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis. The final report was submitted on December 24, 2007. She has recently been appointed chair of the newly created Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Jackson. The purpose of the Agency is to plan, finance, and implement development and redevelopment plans and projects to eliminate or prevent slum and blight in Jackson. She was the 1996 Outstanding Young Woman in Jackson presented by the Jackson Jaycees; the 1997 Woman of the Year presented by the Altrusa Club of Jackson; and was the 2000 recipient of the President's Award, presented by the President and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare. In November 2007 she was named the recipient of The Jackson Award for Community Service by the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation. The WestStar Class of 2008 named Vicki the recipient of the C.P. Boyd Award for leadership. The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson recognized her with their 2009 Hope Giver Award; and she was named one of West Tennessee's 20 Most Influential Women in 2010 with a Sterling Award. Vicki and her husband, Jeff, attend St. Luke's Episcopal Church. |
James NewmonJames is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration. Since graduation, has worked in a number of construction supervisory positions and since 1981, has been Secretary-Treasurer for Dement Construction Company. He has been a Board member since 1997. He and his wife, Debbie, have two children and attend First United Methodist Church in Jackson. |
Chris NunnChris has been on The Bank of Jackson Board since 2002. Chris joined the organization after auditing financial institutions for KPMG in Memphis. He is the Chief Financial Officer for Security Bancorp where he is responsible for financial analysis and reporting for the holding company and its subsidiary banks. He serves on the Board of Directors for all of our affiliated banks. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America. Chris is a graduate of Rhodes College where he is an adjunct professor in the Department of Commerce and Business. He and his wife Kim live in Memphis and have 3 children. |
Nick NunnNick started his career in 1993 in the Fixed Income Division of Morgan Keegan in Memphis. He was a Senior Vice President working as a broker before leaving to join Security Bancorp in 2005. He serves on the Board of Directors for all six banks associated with Security Bancorp. Nick manages the investment portfolio and funds management duties for all six banks in the organization. He has also been Treasurer of United Telephone Company based in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Nick also serves as a Board Member of Advance Memphis. Nick is a graduate of Auburn University. He and his wife Kara live in Memphis and have 3 children and are members of Second Presbyterian Church. |
Warren NunnWarren is the President and CEO of Security Bancorp, the holding company for The Bank of Jackson. Warren has spent his life in banking starting his career at Union Planters National Bank in Memphis before returning to Halls in 1972. He has been on The Bank of Jackson Board of Directors since its inception and on the Board of Directors for Security Bank since 1978. He has served on boards and various committees of The University of Memphis, Dyersburg State Community College, Union University and the Baptist Hospital System. He was recently elected to the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Memphis where he will serve a three year term. He has overseen the tremendous growth of the organization during his time with the bank. Warren is also co-owner of Tennessee Tractor, which owns nine John Deere dealerships and employs 220 people in nine counties in West Tennessee. He and his wife Eleanor live in Halls and have two sons and 6 grandchildren. |
Jimmy WallaceJimmy began serving on the Board of Directors in 1997. He currently owns a commercial real estate firm in Jackson and is a Retired Lt. of the U.S. Navy. He has experienced a lifetime of politics. He served in the State Legislature as an Independent from 1974 to 1984. He has also served as 1 of 2 Republicans on the State Election Commission, been the former Chairman of the Madison County Republican Party, served as rural West Tennessee Coordinator for Fred Thompson, and been the Campaign Manager for Bill Frist. He and his wife Sally have one daughter and three grandchildren. |
